Upcycle, Queen!

Mother Nature: The O.G. Luxe Beauty
Happy Earth Day, Luxies!!!
On this day, we celebrate the only place we can all call home. No matter where you’re from on this vast planet, Mother Earth, also known as Gaia, supports every living being we’re currently aware of. She not only nourishes and supports us with her plentiful bounty, but she also provides endless beauty through her many landscapes and ecosystems. To be a part of this gorgeous tapestry we call life is truly the ultimate luxury.
Today’s lookbook features the ways in which I attempt to keep the Earth as luxuriously beautiful as possible. Try them out for yourself and join in the fun.
Earth Day, But Make It Fashion!
1. Upcycle
Upcycling is the art of repurposing items one would normally dispose of. Giving these items another life cycle is said to help alleviate the strain on landfills.
Enter Chanel. Chanel’s packaging is legendary. Each item is packed with care in a high quality box so beautiful, it is very difficult to fathom throwing it away. The following pictures show just a few of the ways I upcycle my Chanel and other luxury packaging.
I’ve taken the holiday sash from Chanel and wrapped it around the lid of the box. It makes such a cute odds and ends tray. I use it to hold my keys, cardholders and wallets. I’ve added some crystals for good measure; gotta keep those vibes high! I’ve saved quite a few Chanel sashes and ribbons, so this tray will not be the last DIY home decor item.
I’m using this box as a cute prop. Hidden away inside is my abalone shell and other smudging essentials. Maintaining a high vibrational frequency is very important to me. Cleansing my space is a major part of that. Don’t just shake the haters off; cleanse them and their hateful vibes, not only from your life, but your entire energetic field!
I saved this beautiful box from Dolce & Gabbana. I received my luxury face mask from the brand in this little cutie. I wasn’t about to get rid of it. I decided to use it as storage for my luxury sunglasses. They fit perfectly.
I’ve chosen to use this box to store my clip-in hair extensions. They’re within reach and always at the ready for an impromptu photo shoot.
With Chanel makeup comes wonderful Chanel samples. I’ve saved up quite a few. I intend to use them as party favors for my guests. I’ll also use a few to send small gifts to family and friends. Who wouldn’t love a surprise Chanel bag with special treats inside?!
In my post titled Lashing Out, I mentioned that my mom gifted me with some magnetic lashes to try. Arsenal would have been more of an appropriate word. I’ve consolidated them into this large box from Chanel. It’s a fancy space saver.
Bags are not exempt from the upcycling mania. I have a few luxe bags and this is how I’ve repurposed just one of them. As is evident from my previous posts, I love DIY nails. I’ve been doing my own nails for quite some time. As expected, I’ve amassed quite a collection of nail colors in various forms as well as nail art. I’ve used this Chanel bag to house my Kiara Sky dip powders and gel polishes.
My nail art is stored in this Chanel box. I got it for Christmas a couple of years back. It contained a large bottle of Chanel No. 5 and the body lotion to match. Now it’s a resting place for some of my favorite nail decorations.
I own a couple of makeup bags. Rather than buy another, I decided to upcycle this Chanel box. I store my excess makeup here and take it out when needed.
2. Handsome Hand-Me-Downs
I have three growing daughters. They are gifted a lot of clothes, sometimes without ever getting to wear them. I’m sure to save them for the next child. I’ve also given some away to friends with daughters. No doubt, I’ve also donated a ton of beautiful clothes that don’t fit to Goodwill.
I’m not the only one making use of old clothes. My husband is a big fan of using old shirts as rags. He’s really into DIY car repairs. Open those garage doors and you’ll find quite a few old t-shirts masquerading as oil rags.
3. Don’t End It; Mend It!
Creating your own clothing is always in fashion. It’s a great way to make sure you’ll have the perfect fit. I wish I could say I’ve done this a time or two, but until my girls are older and I have more free time, that’s one dream that will remain on the shelf…for now.
In the meantime I’ve made a concerted effort to mend my family’s clothing. Holes in the knees? Add a pretty patch. Most of my clothing tears along a seam, making repairs quite simple. Mending clothes, rather than throwing them out is a great way to hang onto your favorite garments.
4. Fashionable Frequencies
Human beings are a part of the ecosystem and thus, a part of this Earth. If we can’t handle the task of caring for ourselves how can we ever dream of caring for this vast planet. I make it my business to practice self care. As mentioned above, I’m constantly trying to maintain a high vibration and a positive outlook. It’s not about being happy all the time, because that’s not possible. There will be struggles and hardships that we have to face. However, studies show that maintaining a positive outlook is imperative to good health.

My methods for maintaining a positive vibration may be a bit unorthodox to some, but that sounds like a personal problem to me. My favorite methods include but aren’t limited to:
1. Tarot
2. Tea service
3. Journaling
4. Listing things I’m grateful for on a daily basis
5. Luxury shopping #NotSorry
